HELP! I’m new to tea! What do I do?!
First off, best choice of your life! We have an entire section for newcomers full of teas that are easy to make, difficult to mess up, and taste great!
We would recommend getting pre-bagged, as we will do the bagging for you. From there, simply follow the instructions on each package. For example, if a tea says BOIL for 3-5 min, you:
Boil the water
Put the tea bag into a cup
Pour the water into the cup
Wait around 3-5 minutes
Take the teabag out, and enjoy!
If you do not wish to get pre-bagged, we sell tea bags and other tea makers in our Teawares section. We also sell some fun NovelTea Infusers!
My tea says the required temperature is 180, but my kettle only boils. What do I do?
The temperature listings are guidelines and not solid definitive markers. You do not need the exact temperature to hit the mark. One common method is to simply let the water boil, then wait a few minutes for the temp to cool down and pour away. An easier method would be to get a temp controlled electric tea kettle, so you won’t have to do any guess work.
What is the difference between all the different kinds of teas (white, green, oolong, black, herbal/rooibos)?
ALL tea comes from a single plant, camelia sinensis. What determines if it becomes white, green, oolong or black is when the tea is harvested, and how it is processed. Herbal and Rooibos are technically not teas, they’re tisanes, but for the sake of simplicity many tea vendors, us included, include them as teas.
Do you make all of these teas yourself? Do you grow any yourself?
It depends. Some of our teas we make from the ground up and our own original design. Others are modified versions of wholesalers where we either add a few extra ingredients or expand on the flavors already there. Others come to us as-is. Our main goal is to introduce people to the world of tea, whether that be our own creations or others. We do not grow any of the tea leaves.
Are any teas decaffeinated?
No, none of them have gone through the process, but most herbal/rooibos teas are naturally caffeine free. Each tea has a caffeine level listed in its description, and those with a 0 have no caffeine.
Additionally, certain teas, such as white teas, have very little caffeine (less than 2% a cup of coffee), so they would be a good consideration if you’re simply looking to limit caffeine intake, and not remove it outright.
Are any of your teas organic?
Officially, no. While we do use organic ingredients in some of our teas, and some teas are made up of only organic ingredients, by the nature of our processing we cannot officially declare any of our teas organic.
When do you ship your teas?
We ship every Monday, or Tuesday if there is a holiday. Orders from Saturday through Friday get made that weekend, and ship out the next day.
Where are your teas sourced from?
Our teas and ingredients are sourced from all over the world! China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, India, Africa, and many ingredients are gotten from right here in the States.
How many employees does your company have?
The Dragon’s Treasure has a whopping 1 employee: The Teaman. The Dragon’s Treasure started in August 2015, with only 12 teas and no teawares. Since then, The Teaman has grown the business to over 100 teas, and everything else you see before you!
Is there a physical store?
There is not a physical store YET. It is one of the main goals of The Dragon’s Treasure, a flagship store right here in Sugar Land, Texas. From there, we plan to build stores across the nation, internationally, and do much more than people would expect from a simple tea shop!
Where is the coffee roasted from? Is it merely drop shipped?
The coffee is roasted in house by The Teaman himself! All coffee is made to order, typically roasted on Sunday and mailed out on Monday.
I have a question that’s not here, who do I ask?
The “Chat” button on the bottom right of the website opens a chat screen that goes directly to The Teaman. He will answer you as soon as he can, which is usually right away!
